Hadley Britt's Engagement Party - May 2, 2008

Hadley is a girl I coached in cross country since middle school, and she possessed the rare determination and fire rarely seen. The first meet in which she ever ran was a JV 1.8 mile race. She finished in a spectacular time, but when she crossed the finish line her face was flushed with tears of anger. When I came up to her and asked what was wrong, she replied, "I din't win." I knew on that day that Hadley Britt was going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Hadley's love for running continues even today. We had the opportunity to run the Kiawah Island Marathon together in December 2006, and except for the fact that my legs quit working at mile 16, we would have finished together! Hadley has had a similar experience, injuring her leg at mile 18 of the most recent Myrtle Beach Marathon. However, knowing the raw determinstion that still beats in that heart, there is no doubt she will be back on the roads in no time!

Now she and Bryan are preparing for a new life together in New York, but they hope to return to the Carolinas one day in the not-too-distant future. This day was also Bryan's birthday, so it was a double celebration for the couple!
